1950 – Lakshmi Niwas Mittal is an Indian steel magnate. He is the chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steelmaking company based in the UK.

1952 – Satya Pal Jain is the Additional Solicitor General of India and Member of Bharatiya Janata Party National Executive Committee. He was elected as a Member of the Parliament from Chandigarh in 1996 and 1998. He is now a practising Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India and the Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh.

1848 – Saint Geevargese Mar Gregorios, popularly known as Parumala Thirumeni, was a deacon at the age of 10, a priest at the age of 18, and a bishop when aged 28. He was a bishop of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church.

1884 – Taraknath Das was an Indian anti-British Bengali revolutionary and internationalist scholar. 1899 – Debi Prasad Roy Choudhury MBE was an Indian sculptor, painter, and the founder chairman of the Lalit Kala Akademi. He was known for his bronze sculptures, including Triumph of Labour and Martyr’s Memorial. Debi Prasad is rated as one of the major artists of modern Indian art by many.

1899 – General Maharaj Shri Rajendrasinhji Jadeja, DSO, also known as K.S. Rajendrasinhji, was the first Chief of Army Staff of the Indian army, and the second Indian, after Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa, to become Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.

1878 – Shiv Dayāl Singh Seth, also called “Param Purushh Puran Dhani Huzur Soamiji Maharaj” by his disciples and devotees. was born on 24 August 1818 in Agra in the colonial era British India, and died on 15 June 1878 in the same city. His parents were followers of a spiritual guru Tulsi Saheb.

1949 – Ulloor S. Parameswara Iyer, popularly known as Ulloor, was an Indian poet of Malayalam literature and a historian. He was one of the modern triumvirate poets of Kerala, along with Kumaran Asan and Vallathol Narayana Menon.

1983 – Srirangam Srinivasa Rao, popularly known as Sri Sri, was a Telugu poet and lyricist. He was a member of PEN INDIA, Sahitya Academy, Vice-President of the South Indian Film Writers Association, Madras, and the President of the revolutionary writers association of Andhra.

1986 – Keki Khurshedji Tarapore was an Indian cricketer who played in one Test in 1948-49, against West Indies.

2009 – Joginder Shelly was a multitalented actor. He was also a director, producer, writer, singer, songwriter, and distributor.

2013 – S. Manivannan Rajagopal, better known as Manivannan, was an Indian actor, director, and Tamil activist.
