Just a few days after PM Modi’s statement rebuking fake cow vigilantes, and asking people to be tolerant, two Dalit brothers were allegedly tied to a tree, stripped and beaten for skinning a dead cow in Andhra Pradesh.
On Monday, two brothers namely Mokati and Lazar were hired to skin a cow that had died of electrocution. While they were doing their job, they were attacked by cow vigilantes who arrived at the spot accusing them of killing the animal.
The victims are in Hospital, and one of them is reportedly critical.
Last week PMO delivered a hard-hitting message in Telangana stating, “If you have a problem, if you feel like attacking someone, attack me, not my Dalit brothers. If you want to shoot anyone, shoot me, not my Dalit brothers.”
Last month, four tannery workers were stripped to the waist, tied to an SUV, flogged and paraded for skinning a dead cow in Una, Gujarat. The incident led to massive Dalit protests as they targeted the Modi government, accusing it of failing to protect the most underprivileged of society.
