1975 – Upasana Singh is an Indian actress and a stand-up comedian. She is well-known for her role in Judaai and for her negative potrayal in Son Pari as ‘kalipari’.

1893 – Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis OBE, FNA, FASc, FRS was an Indian scientist and statistician. He is remembered for the Mahalanobis distance, a statistical measure, and for being one of the members of the first Planning Commission of free India. He made pioneering studies in anthropometry in India.
1901 – Rajendra Nath Lahiri was an Indian revolutionary. He was the mastermind behind the Kakori conspiracy and the Dakshineshwar bombing. He was an active member of the Hindustan Republican Association which aimed at ousting the British from India.

1873 – Michael Madhusudan Dutta was a Bengali poet, writer, and dramatist. He was a pioneer of Bengali drama known for his famous work Meghnad Badh Kavya, a tragic epic.
1961 – Baldev Singh was an Indian Sikh political independence movement leader who was the first Defence Minister of India. He also represented the Punjabi Sikh community in the processes of negotiations that resulted in the independence of India and the Partition of India in 1947.
1966 – Damodar Dharmananda Kosambi was an Indian mathematician, statistician, philologist, historian, and polymath. He contributed to genetics by introducing Kosambi map function and is well known for his work in numismatics and for compiling critical editions of ancient Sanskrit texts.
2011 – Kaikhosru Danjibuoy Sethna was an Indian poet, scholar, writer, philosopher, and cultural critic. He published over 50 books and was also known as Amal Kiran.
2016 – Kalpathi Ganpathi “K.G.” Subramanyan was an Indian artist who was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2012.
