Abdul Samad
Abdul Samad was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 4 Cr before the TATA IPL 2022 mega auction. He was Hyderabad’s third retention after Kane Williamson and Umran Malik who were retained at Rs 14 Cr and Rs 4 Cr respectively. However, having played just two matches for the franchise, Abdul Samad has been dropped from the playing XI. In the two matches where had played, Hyderabad faced heavy defeats with the entire team not doing well. But Hyderabad soon found momentum in the league and is back to winning ways. Abdul Samad is a hard-hitting batsman with immense potential and has finished off games for Hyderabad in the past. Abdul is also a handy leg-spin bowler. He has scored 226 runs from 25 matches at a healthy strike rate of 142. So, it is quite justified that Abdul Samad should be given a chance going forward in the tournament considering his talent. 3 Retained players dropped from the playing XI in TATA IPL 2022
Yashasvi Jaiswal

Anrich Nortje
The list also includes South African pacer Anrich Nortje who was retained by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.5 Cr ahead of the TATA IPL 2022 mega auction. He was dropped from the playing XI after just one match! He performed poorly and conceded 35 runs from 2.2 overs. However, it is quite understandable that Nortje was coming back from an injury and was not match ready yet.
