Nearly 40 injured and 5 dead in UK Parliament Attack.
A mugger fatally stabbed a police office on Wednesday at the gates of Britain Parliament compound. Soon after the attacker was shot and killed by police, but not before claiming the total of 4 lives. The incident is being termed as Europe’s latest high-profile terrorist attack.
The London Metropolitan police stated last night that they believed they knew who the attacker was, but did not provide a name. They also said that their “working assumption” is that he was “inspired by international terrorism.”
The attacker traced a deadly path across Westminster Bridge, running down people with his SUV and then ramming it into the fence of the parliament, injuring at least 40 people.
The dead and injured were left scattered on some of London’s most famous streets.
These crumpled bodies on the Westminster bridge included at least two dead people.
Outside Parliament, a Foreign Office minister – covered in the blood of the stabbed police officer – tried in vain to save his life.
British Prime Minister Theresa May said, “The location of this attack was no accident, The terrorist chose to strike at the heart of our capital city, where people of all nationalities, religions and cultures come together to celebrate the values of liberty, democracy and freedom of speech.”
She added, “Any attempt to defeat those values through violence and terror is doomed to failure. Tomorrow morning, Parliament will meet as normal”.
