800 Tourists Stuck in Andaman due to heavy rain
Over 800 tourists have been stranded at Havelock Islands in the Andaman due to heavy rain. The navy has sent four ships to help people to evacuate the region.
The Administration called the navy early Wednesday morning after the rain left tourist stranded.
Andaman and Nicobar Disaster management has speculated that a cyclone storm might strike Havelock Island.
An Official from Disaster Management team said, “There is a deep depression (in the sea) about 310 km from Port Blair. That is why the Navy was contacted as we don’t want to take any chances”.
The tourists are to be ferried from the Havelock Islands to Port Blair.
Evacuation is expected to be completed by evening.
