Abdou Diallo made a transfer to PSG – Abdou Diallo is a French defender who rose in the ranks of world football by his time at the German club FSV Mainz. He was the main defender for Mainz in the 2017/18 season and helped them a lot in the league standings. Mainz finished 14th in the league that season. His consistently good performances earned him a move to Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund is a bigger club in comparison to Mainz and it was a no brainer for Diallo to make his next transfer. Dortmund was willing to spend 28 million euros for the young defender as they were struggling with their defense after the departure of German Mats Hummels.

2018-2019 was a terrific season for Borussia Dortmund as they almost won the league but gave it away in the last days of their campaign. Diallo formed a formidable centre back partnership with the Swiss defender, Manuel Akanji. He was very versatile in the Dortmund defense and also played as a left full back when needed. Diallo’s strength lies in dribbling and crossing the ball. He provided a lot of long balls to the Dortmund attack from the back lines. Dortmund signed another young defender in Leonardo Balerdi from Boca Juniors last season.

Balerdi is one of the best young prospects in the European football. He is yet to feature in an official game for BVB. Dortmund re-signed their former Captain, Matts Hummels which created an overflow of defenders in the BVB Squad. This was an indication to a hungry and developing team. Abdou Diallo is ready to make his move to a club where he will be able to find more of the game time. Thomas Tuchel, the former BVB coach and the current PSG coach is a fan of the young French defender. He felt it is the right opportunity to snatch the young defender which is why PSG made an offer to BVB that they couldn’t refuse. They paid 32 million euros ($35.9 million) plus a further two million euros in bonuses. BVB made a profit from this transfer while giving up a player who wanted to leave for a bigger club.
