Planning to Visit Abu Dhabi? Then you must also be thinking about the food offered there. Apparently a travelers life revolves around four things: Wander – Stay- Eat-Shop- Repeat. Abu Dhabi is the place for everyone and offers delicious cuisines from different parts of the world and the Middle East in specific.

  • What to eat?

Be it any part of UAE, Authentic or traditional food is a must try as the traditional food of UAE is quite unique in flavour and taste. Must try dishes can be Stuffed Camel, Al Harees, Shawarma, Al Machboos and Hummus.

Stuffed camel is one of the world’s biggest dish served. Major ingredients included in it are a camel, a lamb, 20 chickens, boiled eggs, fish and rice. Though the dish is hard to find in any restaurant of Abu Dhabi, one may get to taste it if he/she is lucky to attend a wedding ceremony or any other major ceremony in Abu Dhabi.

Al harees is made up of meat and wheat. It takes a long time to cook but the delicacy is worth the wait. The dish is usually served during Ramadan, Eid or Wedding ceremonies. You may also find few Restaurants serving the dish.

Shawarma is a wrap with minced meat or lamb and is mixed with garlic sauce or pickles in Arabic Roti. It is easy to find it any part of UAE as it is a common Street food.

Hummus, on the other hand is not exactly a dish but a dip served with dishes like Shawarma and Pita bread. It is a made from chickpeas, olive oil, lemon juice, tahini paste, salt and garlic.

  • Luxury Restaurants

If you are looking for leisure and luxury and are in search of great ambiance and great food then do visit Asia de Cuba. Located at Riviera Beach Club is a fine dining restaurant and outlet of London’s famous restaurant located in St. Martin’s lane. It is a multi-faceted space which includes a lounge, a beach deck with outdoor bar and stately lovely cabanas. Octopus dishes are a must try here.

Another Luxury restaurant can be Hakkasan, which is one of the oldest one in Abu Dhabi. Located at corniche road it is place with a little dim ambiance yet elegant. Since it is a Chinese restaurant do try their Noodles and dim sums.

  • Budget Restaurants

If luxury is not your way, then we also have Budget Restaurants which are also no less in terms of food, ambiance and service.

Look out for Nando’s, a universal restaurant chain. Restaurant serves best Hummus and chicken meals in town. Other recommended places are Burger fuel at the galleria, Soulfull at green emirates building, Bonna Annee at Al Zahiyah.

  • For Drinks and nightlife

Dancing and drinking on the streets of Abu Dhabi can prove to be utterly dangerous as it is immodest and indecent as per UAE’s customs. Nevertheless, City caters the interest of every sort of traveller and offers the range of superb lounges and bars.

Skylite Rooftop Lounge at Yas Viceroy is one of the happening places. It is also most loved place by locals. The lounge offers the view of Formula one racing track. It is usually crowded during formula one season, so reservations are recommended. The Lounge also gives discounts on drinks

La Cava Wine Bar can prove to be the paradise for wine lovers. The bar offers Wide range of wine and whiskey to choose from. The ambiance is lavish and decorated with a little quirky furniture.

Other famous names are Cabana9 at Saadiyat beach club, Breeze poolside bar, The Jazz and fizz bar at corniche east road and so on.

  • For something sweet

Looking for desserts after mouth drooling food?  Whether you want traditional sweets or dessert from the baker’s basket, Abu Dhabi has both the options.

Al Saada Bakery is a famous bakery for traditional sweet and specializes in ma’amoul, which are made with shortbread and stuffed with walnuts, pistachios or dates and then molded into a variety of designs.

Shakespeare and co, a very famous outlet in Abu Dhabi is a cute café which has Elizabethan England vibe and décor. It is a best place for Cakes, Macrons and Moroccan tea. Other famous bakeries in Abu Dhabi are Khaleej bakeries and pastries at Salaam Street, Bloomsbury’s at Muroor Road and The Cheesecake Factory at Yas Mall.
