Another Asia Cup 2018 India Vs Pakistan match and another comprehensive win for India. Sunday saw India decimate Pakistan once again in the space of a week. Continuing from their 8 wicket win over rivals Pakistan in the group stage match, India went one better to register a 9 wicket win to bash their own record set last week of their biggest win against Pakistan. The win also saw India cement their place in the final of the Asia Cup with two wins out of two in the Super 4.
Embarrassing Pakistan in their home ground, the Indian team flew the tricolour high with a performance that showed Pakistan their true place. Showing the Pakistani side out for what they really are, the Indians exposed how overrated Pakistan’s squad is. Big claims, loud-mouthed statements and aggressive celebrations all fell flat on their face come matchday for the Pakistanis.

Batting first, Pakistan did manage to put in a better performance than last time but just by a small mile. Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik managed to put on a partnership in the middle overs to ensure that Pakistan managed to get more than the 162 they had managed last time but it came at a snail’s pace. Their efforts to up the ante were killed off by JaspritBumrah who put in a marvellous bowling effort in the final 10 overs of the match.
Bowling an immaculate line and length, Bumrah hit the deck with his perfect bouncers that suffocated Pakistan’s batsmen. With Chahal breaking a partnership between Malik and Ali that looked to threaten, Bumrah took on the responsibility of ensuring that Pakistan’s total was well below par. A fine display of pace bowling by him, one that was cherished around the cricketing fraternity, saw India concede just 35 runs in 7 overs, picking up 2 wickets in the progress. Bowling figures of 2-29, signify just how good Bumrah was with both the new ball and in the closing phases of the match.
Coming out to chase on a much better wicket than the last few days, it was all about the Dhawan-Sharma show. The opening pair had come out with only one thought and that was to decimate a bowling line-up that claimed itself to be the best in the world. Thrashing Hasan Ali’s statement of picking up all 10 Indian wickets before the tournament, the duo beat him blue and black that he might just have some sense knocked in his head finally.
It was a show of pure batting genius by the pair who strolled to victory. Both Dhawan and Sharma put on impressive tons as they ran away with the win for India. It was ultimately a run-out that brought an end to Dhawan’s 114 meaning that every Pakistani bowler ended with a fat big zero in front of their wickets column. Sharma got his 19th 100 soon after as he registered 7000 runs and 5000 as an opener to guide India to a nine-wicket win.
