Guwahati served as an unhappy hunting ground for the men in blue as they went down by 8 wickets against Australia in the second T20 of the three-match series. A lackluster batting performance saw India were dismissed for a paltry 118. Australia in reply sailed to victory as the Indian bowling attack lacked the pace and venom to make the match an exciting one.

Batting first India slumped at Barsapara. The Australian pacers were too hot to handle for the Indians as they made the most of the conditions to rattle the Indians. On a pacey, nippy and fast wicket, the Aussies made the most of the bowling conditions to pick up Indian wicket after wicket.Behrendorff struck panic into the hearts of the Indian batsmen and struck twice in his first over itself to dismiss opener Rohit Sharma and then captain Virat Kohli for a duck. The Indian batting unit was unable to play the lethal Australian bowling line-up who clearly meant business. Unable to string together any meaningful partnership, India was only able to manage 118 off their 20 overs with Jadhav top scoring with 27 and Behrendorff picking up 4 wickets.

India started strongly as they looked to defend a small total and take an unassailable lead in the series. They sent both Australian openers back to the hut cheaply and it seemed game on before Henrique’s and Head put the game to bed. They both shared a match-winning partnership to take their team to a comfortable 8 wicket victory and keep the Australian hopes alive in the series.

All eyes now turn to the final match of the series. The match promises to be a blockbuster with the series at 1-1 and both teams will be going out hammer and tongs to take home the coveted T20 trophy.
