Now the Aussies face spirited Bangladeshis.
Australia vs Bangladesh preview – Bangladesh team
After crushing West Indies, the Bangla Tigers will roar against the baggy green men. Bangladesh chased down the 322 runs target with ease. Even though their bowlers conceded 322 runs, at one stage West Indies were in the game when Shai Hope, Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer were on the charge. But the Bangladeshi pacers kept coming back strongly. Mustifizur Rahman, Saifuddin and Shakib Al Hasan made sure that the Windies won’t score more than 325. Bangladesh chased down the total well. They got a good start. Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar gave them a decent start.
Even though Mushfiqur Rahim missed out, but Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das shared an unbeaten partnership of 189 runs to seal the match. Shakib scored brilliant 124 not out and Liton Das was unbeaten on 94 runs. It was the first 300 plus run chase in this year’s world cup. Mortaza will want more of such performances from his side. But it won’t be easy against Australia. The Aussies have pacers like Starc, Cummins, Counter – Nile and Richardson. They are quality bowlers and they are in-form.
Bangladesh will have an uphill task of facing these bowlers and then bowling to some ODI greats. Batsmen like Warner, Finch, Smith, Maxwell, and Stoinis have an upper hand against Bangladeshi bowlers. The Bangladeshi batsmen will need to apply themselves against these quality pacers. They will have to absorb pressure as the Aussie pacers are too good with the new ball.
And while bowling, the bowlers will have to bowl some very tight lines to the Aussie batsmen. Just like what India did to them. The Indian pacers didn’t give them any room to play their shorts. Mustifizur and Saifuddin are the key pacers for Bangladesh. They bowled some good overs against the West Windies. World’s premier all-rounder will be the player to watch out for in this clash. Shakib is in-form of his life, now in this big game, he will have to deliver again.
Probable XI for Bangladesh – Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman.
Australia vs Bangladesh preview – Australia team
Australia will bank on their openers once again. Finch and Warner will be the players to watch out for in this contest against Bangladesh. The never die attitude of Australia is the mantra for them to claim the world cup for the 6th time. Against Sri Lanka, their pacers got them the victory. Sri Lankan openers had a good start, but the Aussie pacers made a good comeback to win the game easily.
Australia has ever reliable Steve Smith at number 3. He is the one who can hold the innings for them. Against West Indies, he was the one who crafted the innings well. But the problem for Australia is the middle order. Usman Khawaja, Glenn Maxwell and Shaun Marsh aren’t that effective like their top 3. Australia should replace Shaun Marsh with Adam Zampa.
Even though Adam Zampa went for runs against India, but he is a good spinner to have. He can break the partnership when it mattered the most. The pace battery of Australia can demolish any batting line up that too because of conditions in England. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Counter – Nile and Kane Richardson will be too good for Bangladesh.
Probable XI of Australia – Aaron Finch, David Warner, Steven Smith, Usman Khawaja, Glenn Maxwell, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Counter – Nile, Pat Cummins, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, Jason Behrendorff.
Will Bangladesh upset Australia as they did to South Africa? Or will the Aussies make it to the top?
