Australia won the toss and like always, opted to bat first in the first test match that was played at the Optus Stadium at Perth. They didn’t have an ideal start as Burns was quickly out for just 9 runs. Then, it was Warner and Labuschagne who steadied the innings for the hosts.

But, Warner couldn’t do the magic as he did against Pakistan. He was about to reach his half-century but due to a magnificent caught and bowling chance taken by Neil Wagner, Warner had to depart for 42 runs.

Then, Steve Smith and Labuschagne took control of the innings for some time. But that too didn’t last long for Australia. Smith continued his rough patch since the Pakistan series and was out for 43 runs this time.
