The starting 90 minutes did not go Dortmund’s way, Leverkusen was faster, had more possession and intercepted the ball almost immediately whenever the Schwarzundgelb got hold of the ball. Leverkusen enjoyed having the ball in the opening 10-15 minutes and were setting up-tempo so that this possession can lead to goals. Leverkusen’s defence and midfield were performing at their optimal but it was the attack that let them down. Kai Havertz, the upcoming German star struggled to create chances whereas Karim Bellarabi lost the ball couple of times while at the flanks. Credit goes to Dortmund for defending the initial phase of the game well and not going down by a goal just at the beginning.
