Patent Infringement case against Canva, a decacorn from Australia, filed by an Indian Startup

Canva vs RxPrism Patent Infringement – In a hearing in Delhi High Court on the plea of RxPrism Health Systems Pvt Ltd against Canva Pty Limited, Australia, the Hon’ble High Court has reportedly found a prima facie case and issued notice to Canva.canva vs rxprism patent infringement

The alleged patent infringed by Canva relates to RxPrism product ‘Show&Tell’. This patented technology coupled with any user device with camera & microphone hardware enables sales people to engage customers remotely and practice on-demand selling. The product has been awarded two patents in the USA as well.

During the hearing, Rxprsim was represented by Tanmay Mehta, Sanyam Khetarpal, and Narita Yadav Counsels who argued for an interim injunction on the functioning of Canva. After hearing detailed arguments, the Hon’ble High Court issued notice and admitted the suit directing Canva to appear for an explanation.

Vivek Dahiya, co-founder of Boudhik Ventures and also Patent Counsel of Rxprism said that “this is one of the few cases where an Indian Startup is going against a Big multi-national”. He further added that this will encourage other Indian startups to protect their technologies through Patent and enforce if needed. Vivek also shared that “Rxprism is contemplating to initiate similar suits in the USA based on their two US granted patents”.

Canva Pty Ltd, Australia, is a decacorn from Australia having a current valuation of around USD 40 Billion and had launched a new feature “present & record” in 2020 which reportedly helped them to increase their user base multifold.

RxPrism  is a registered startup company based out of India, providing patented technology products on social selling for salespeople of many organisations in India and some other countries. RxPrism are holding 5 issued patents in India, 4 issued patents in USA and have many other patents pending for registration globally.

As on date, we do not have any input on the above from Canva. Any input received in the future from Canva will be duly updated.
