CBI initiated Deportation request for Vijay Mallya

CBI initiated a Deportation request yesterday in order to bring back former Liquor tycoon Mr. Vijay Mallya from the UK through a Special court in Mumbai.


A non-bailable warrant has been secured against Mallya by investigating agency, followed by an extradition request from the Special Court.

Vijay Mallya reportedly left the country on 2nd March has not returned ever since.

CBI has said, if Mallya tried to leave the country, he should be detained at the exit point.

In early November CBI asked for a circular asking Bureau of Immigration (BoI) to inform it about his travel plans and departure.

Mallya is facing the CBI probe for defaulting on repayment of loans of Rs 900 crores taken from IDBI. In total, the former liquor tycoon owes several banks a total of as much as Rs 9,000 crores.
