Chalo jeete hain, a short inspirational and moving film based on the events of Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi’s childhood, has been released on Indian television. The Star India network aired the film on its channels Star Gold, Star Gold HD, Star Bharat, Star Gold Select, Star Gold Select HD, Star Utsav Movies, Channel V, Movies OK, and National Geographic. The movie can also be watched on over the top (OTT) platform Hotstar on your laptops and mobiles.
The 32-minute social drama, Chalo jeete hain, directed by Mangesh Hadawale and produced by Mahaveer Jain and Bhushan Kumar of T Series is inspired on the Prime Minister’s childhood and is set in the early post-independence era. It revolves around the life of a small boy, Naru and his quest for the meaning of life. It narrates the story of the young boy who gets impressed by the words of Swami Vivekananda “Wahi jeete hain jo doosron ke liye jeete hain (those live who wish to serve others. Naru portrays the meaning and importance of spreading happiness and doing as much good to others as possible in his journey of serving the nation. The film also showcases references to freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev who all sacrificed their lives for the greater good and their country.
“I saw Gujarati films from 1960-’65 to understand the culture then.” In addition, he also heard Mann Ki Baat, the radio show hosted by the Prime Minister every Sunday and saw and read interviews where the Prime Minister spoke about his childhood to make Chalo jeete hain as authentic as possible. “It is 25% creative liberty and 75% based on facts,” said Hadawale.
The filmed invited a lot of praise from ministers after it was screened at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre earlier last week for President Ram Nath Kovind. In other screening, union ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Ananth Kumar; Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and veteran BJP leader L K Advani were among those who watched the movie. Celebrities including Kangana Ranaut, Akshay Kumar, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and Amisha Patel also attended the screening of Chalo jeete hain, leaving the screening with loads of adulations for the short film and the hard work and efforts of Modi in moving the country in the right path of fast-growing development.
