ICC CWC 2019 Australia vs Pakistan 17th Match Preview Prediction – The ICC tournament while being in the middle of it has suddenly begun to be exciting. While a lot of restructurings are being seen in the team setups, new developments keep on surfacing also. With Adam Zampa being the new celebrity sensation given his addiction with his right pocket before every delivery, the Australian team would definitely not want to be in the center of another controversy. All things apart, they would like to win their next one against Pakistan who themselves came back strongly to beat the host after being drubbed against West Indies in their tournament opener. Taunton which saw New Zealand cruising quite comprehensively against Afghanistan will probably have slower wickets, a haven for Pakistan and their spinners. A used pitch will be on offer and which might provide assistance to the spinners as well.

A lot can change within a span of a few days. While their resurgence was the talk of the town when they beat Afghanistan and West Indies, it has suddenly changed to introspection and rethinking of the strategy courtesy a loss against India, their newfound nemesis. While they would want to prove the loss against India a fluke, their main agenda would be to change some strategy and let the runs flow. But it seems they have plenty on their plate which needs cleaning first.

The batting in the three matches has not looked quite convincing despite Finch and Warner giving them good starts in the two matches. While Warner was excellent against Afghanistan in the opener, he could not score against West Indies and India. The West Indies bowlers hurled shot balls at him while he was not able to connect against an impeccable line of Bumrah and Bhubaneshwar. His partner Finch though has a lot of answers to make regarding his own form and consistency. In all the three matches, he has found it difficult to go and succumbed to deliveries which pitched on middle and off and straightened. He has also not been sure of the deliveries that have swung inwards from the good length and the Pakistani side would love to exploit his weakness. Khawaja was sent at number 4 against India but failed to prove himself again with a line similar to what West Indies bowled at them. The only bright spot that can be seen is that of Smith who held the innings together against West Indies as well as against India also.

The middle order also seems fragile with Maxwell and Stoinis not firing. A good inning from Carey brought the winning margin close against India while Nathan Coulter Nile proved enough for the West Indians. The bowling too has not looked at par except for Cummins and Starc. They have a combination which asks more from their fifth and sixth bowlers and their combinations have not worked for them in the past few years. They would want to bring back a genuine fifth bowling option to strengthen their weak point against Pakistan.

We could see a change as Zampa might get replaced by Lyon and Nathan Coulter Nile making way for Jason Behrendorff.

Team: Aaron Finch (capt), Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey (wk), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa

Nothing can be termed permanent for Pakistan as they are as change loving as nature itself. For them, the yesterday has no relevance to today while today having no impact on tomorrow. For a team which goes into every match with renewed confidence, Australia game should be another exciting prospect. While they were hammered by the West Indian pacers, they came back strongly to post their highest score in the world cup thereby also defeating the hosts comprehensively. When they take on Australia at a pitch which can rather be on the slower side, they might experience the fortune of their lifetime.

The batting has been breathing hot and cold over the two-match course they had while one of the matches gets washed away. They would have hoped of an easy two points but their luck was not supportive at all. Their batters showed promise in the match against England and they would want to score big again.

With the nature of the pitch being on the slower side, they can be expected to field both Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim while Shoaib Malik providing the third spinning option for them. The team management should also consider sending Malik to the fourth position as he can be the one around whom the team’s batting line up can maneuver.
