Daniel Sturridge transfer to Trabzonspor Kulubu: The Turkish club, Trabzonspor Kulubu confirmed the signing of striker, Daniel Sturridge for an expected three-year contract after the English man became a free agent this summer. Sturridge attracted attention from multiple numbers of clubs all over Europe. With the striker being able to choose his next destination following the expiry of his deal with reigning European champions, Liverpool, it had been claimed that the Super Ligue side fought off the competition from the Turkish rivals, Fenerbahce who couldn’t come to agree on personal terms with Daniel Sturridge.

Other clubs from around the world too couldn’t do the same. The two Turkish clubs were believed to have been just a handful of up to thirteen different clubs who made inquiries, including Real Betis, Marseille, and Bologna. Sturridge will be joining with former Chelsea teammate, John Obi Mikel who had signed a two-year deal earlier in this transfer window. The former Aston Villa youngster was pictured at the airport arriving in Turkey on Monday. He has played at Liverpool for six years, racking up 60 goals in 160 appearances and winning the Champions League in May.

Sturridge has played at every youth level that exists in England between Under-16s and the senior side. He has twenty-six when he got Three Lions caps to his name, just recently in 2017. He has also netted eight goals, including one against Italy at the World Cup in 2014 and the late winner against Wales at the Euros two years later. Sturridge was banned from football for six weeks by the federation, four of which were suspended, for breaching betting/gambling rules after telling his brother to bet on a likely move to Sevilla, the Spanish club, which set back his plans for finding a new club sooner.

Trabzonspor has had their Super Lig campaign started with a 1-1 draw against Kasımpaşa S.K, and will be looking to improve on their fourth-placed finish last season while still awaiting the draw for their Europa League play-off tie. He will now embark on his first venture into football outside England having been turned out for Manchester City, Chelsea, Bolton, Liverpool, and West Bromich Albion during his 306 game football career.
