  • 23-Year old Anupriya Lakra proved that dreams do come true. She is the daughter of Mariniyas Lakra, a Havildar in Odisha Police and Jamaj Yashmin Lakra, a homemaker.
  • She became the first woman pilot from Malkangiri district of Odisha to become the first female pilot from the backward region.
  • Anupriya Lakra became a pilot seven years after she quit engineering studies midway and joined an aviation academy in 2012.

Vedangi Kulkarni

  • In 2018, Vedangi Kulkarni made India proud by becoming the fastest Asian to cycle the globe.
  • She was born in Pune, India and studied sports management at Bournemouth University, United Kingdom.
  • Vedangi started her journey from Pune and cycled into Kolkata, completing 29,000 km distance.

Vinesh Phogat

  • Vinesh Phogat is an Indian wrestler who comes from the family of wrestlers. She is the cousin of Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, both international wrestlers and Commonwealth Games medalists.
  • She became the first Indian woman wrestler to win Gold in both Commonwealth and Asian games.
  • On February 18, 2019, Phogat became the First Indian Athlete to be nominated for Laureus World Sports Awards.
  • In 2019, Vinesh won the bronze medal in Asian Wrestling Championships by defeating World Championships bronze medalist Qianyu Pang (China).

P.V. Sindhu

  • Pusarla Venkata Sindhu or P. V. Sindhu is an Indian professional badminton player born in Hyderabad.
  • During her entire career, Pusarla has won medals at various tournaments on the BWF circuit including a gold at the 2019 World Championships.
  • Sindhu made to the Forbes’ list of Highest-Paid Female Athletes in 2018 and 2019 with earnings of US$8.5 million and $5.5 million respectively.

  • In 2019, she won silver in World University Games and Gold at World Junior World Cup Suhl 2019. Elavenil also won Gold at 2019 ISSF 10 meter Air Rifle world cup held in Rio de Jenerio on 28th August scoring 251.7.

  • On July 2, 2019, she won 200m Gold in Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland, in 23.65 seconds.
  • Then, on July 7, 2019, she again won 200m gold at the Kutno Athletics Meet with a time of 23.97 seconds.
  • She won gold on July 13, in 200m at the Kladno Athletics Meet in the Czech Republic with a time of 23.43 seconds.
