David Villa News – David Villa is the most prolific striker to play for Spain. He is a legend of modern football. At his prime, he was one of the most feared and recognized players in the world. He is set to retire from football in January. The 37-year-old Spaniard will finish his career at Vissel Kobe in Japan.

The striker scored 59 goals in 98 appearances for Spain. These goals play a big significance in Villa’s career as 5 of these he scored in the FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. It was this edition of the FIFA World Cup that Spain won for the first time.

David Villa News – Villa came through the ranks of Valencia making a transfer to Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. His time at Barcelona saw him become a Champions League winner. Under the leadership of Pep Guardiola, he scored the opening goal in a 3-1 victory over  Manchester United, the one that was managed by Sir Alex Ferguson.

After his time at Barcelona, Villa made flashes at many places in the world. He spent a season in Madrid and then headed to MLS where he scored 80 in 124 appearances. After that, he headed to Japan to pair up with former teammate Andrés Iniesta at Vissel Kobe.

David Villa News – During his recent interview, he told the media that he decided to leave Barcelona as he felt that he was losing prominence and importance at the club. Villa’s decision to leave the club was a shock to the fans who loved watching him play and the personality that he has. Villa left the club without a proper farewell, which is a bit of shame on Barca’s part who couldn’t honour one of their elitist athletes. In the same interview, Villa told that Messi is the best player he has ever played with and thinks its highly unlikely that he will see somebody else this good. He described Ronaldo as a “Machine” but Messi on another level.

David Villa News – Villa is fighting a battle that we all fight and that is aging. His body is unable to play the game at the top level and respecting that he has taken this decision to say goodbye to the game.  He will certainly be missed.
