An exciting final day of the transfer window of the English Premier League saw clubs seal deals for exciting players around the world. With the Premier League commencing from 12:30 am IST on Saturday with Manchester United and Leicester playing the first match of the 2018/19 campaign, clubs went all out, spending huge amounts of money to strengthen their teams.
The premier league transfer market closes 20 days before the transfer market closes in Spain, Italy and other countries. And this brought us some exciting news as deals kept flooding in all over the day till the last minute. With the English Premier League being the most lucrative, exciting and watched football league in the world, the money present in it is by far the most.
The biggest deal of the window was done by giants Chelsea who signed Athletic Bilbao keeper Kepa in a world record fee of 71.6 million pounds. This broke the previously set record of 66 million paid by Liverpool for Alison this month itself to make Kepa the most expensive goalkeeper in the world.
The cream of English clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea by far had the best window. While Chelsea not only brought in a new manager in Sarri, they also signed world class players in Jorginho, Kovacic and Kepa. Liverpool who for us won the window ended up getting Keita, Fabinho and Alison which makes them one of the best sides in the league and title contenders.
While the top clubs went about doing some of the most expensive transfers, mid-table clubs like Wolverhampton Fulham and Everton were equally impressive in their dealing, singing a host of top potential.
Tottenham meanwhile created history by becoming the first ever premier league club to not sign any player in the summer window which makes them our biggest losers of the window.
