Here is the list of all the Delhi Capitals team and buys.
Having retained just 14 players, the refurbished Delhi Capitals side went into the auctions of the 12th season of the Indian Premier League with a clear agenda in mind. With the second biggest purse in its kitty, the side was determined to ensure in gritty bidding and add to its squad players who brought to the setup immense expertise and an effervescent all-rounder skill set.
Coming back to Delhi Capitals team and buys, after finishing last in the table in the 2018 season, the Delhi franchise which had roped in new partners for IPL 2019 knew they needed to carry out a massive overhaul if they were to once again establish themselves as true title contenders. Having been unable to reach the final of any season till now, dwindling massively after an enthralling first two seasons, a total of 11 players were bought into the team in the auction.
Delhi was in hectic action long before the auction window opened. With a mid-season slot being introduced for the first time, allowing teams to retain, release and trade players, Delhi let go of the likes of heavyweights in Gautam Gambhir, Shami, Maxwell and Cristian while bringing in Dhawan from SRH. It outlined how the side was going to approach the auction, looking to steady the batting unit and add depth to it as much as possible.
Going in with the same gameplan, Ingram became their most expensive buy with the side bringing in the T20 specialist who has had a good time batting in Indian conditions at Rs. 6.4 crores. While their buys were more or less decent purchases, a flummoxing decision to buy Patel for Rs. 5 crores left everyone stunned and it might turn out to be one of the most underwhelming purchases of the upcoming season.
With Rs.25.5 crore at their disposal, Delhi went into the auctions needing to fill in 10 slots that required the composition of 7 Indian and 3 overseas players.
