Delhi to Agra via Yamuna Expressway – Yamuna Expressway also known as Taj Expressway is a 185 km long expressway that connects Greater Noida with Agra in Uttar Pradesh. It is a 6-lane expressway and the total project cost was Rs.128.39 billion.

Some important tips for a safe journey via Yamuna Expressway

  • Get pressure of your car tyres checked before moving on to the Expressway.
  • Keep the air pressure in the tyres little less than recommended.
  • The tyres of your vehicle should be in very good condition. Do not travel with worn-out tyres on this road.
  • To prevent over-heating, some vehicles also get Nitrogen gas filled-up in the tyres.
  • Make sure you have enough fuel to cover the whole journey.
  • Must check oil & water level.

  • Do not cross the prescribed speed limit. There may be the chances of tyre burst on the Highway.
  • Take a few breaks for about 20-30 minutes between the journey. This will allow tyres to cool down and avoid a situation of tyre-burst.
  • If you are traveling between December to February, avoid traveling very early and after 6 pm as the fog is very dense during this period.

The Yamuna Expressway, connecting Delhi to Agra touches 1,182 villages of Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahar, Aligarh, Hathras (Mahamaya Nagar) and Mathura district.

The three toll plazas are wide and have 12 booths on each side. From Greater Noida side, the first booth arrives at 37km, second at 95km and the third after 149km.

  • The total distance of Yamuna Expressway is approximately 185 km and the speed limit is 100 kmph.
  • It will take only two hours to reach Agra if you travel non-stop, which you should not.
  • Major causes of accidents on Yamuna e-way are either lack of visibility due to fog or tyre-burst due to overheating. Other times, bullock carts, tractors or animals that come on the road also causes mishappening.
  • During winters, the roads are covered with dense fog and it’s better to travel when the Sun is up.
  • The roads are well-built and smooth. And you’ll hardly find any traffic jam on the road.
  • One-way toll charges is around INR 400 charged at the first toll booth. Keep the receipt as you may need to show it at rest of the toll booths on the highway.
  • At high speed, you may get wrong idea about stationery or slow-moving vehicle and run into it. So, be careful.
  • All the facilities are available like clean toilets, food corners, and medical assistance at regular distances on the sides of the Expressway.
