Ekadashi dates in 2020 as per Hindu calendar – Ekadashis has a very significant role in Hindu religion. All the ekadashis are dedicated to Lord Vishnu and his avatars. It is believed that observing fasts on ekadashis can wash away sins and fulfill your desires.

Ekadashi in January 2020

06 January 2020 – Pausha Putrada Ekadashi

On this day, couples fast and worship Lord Vishnu. It is believed that the couple who fasts on this day may get blessed with a child.

20 January 2020 – Shattila Ekadashi

On the day of Shat Tila Ekadashi, there is a great significance of taking a bath with water mixed with sesame seeds. On this day, devotees do not let greed; lust and anger take over the thoughts.

05 February 2020- Jaya Ekadashi

The devotees observe fasting for the whole day. Devotees cannot eat or drink anything. This vrat is meant to purify both the body and the soul of an individual.

19 February 2020 – Vijaya Ekadashi

It is believed that by observing fast on this day will lead the person to victory over all the evil powers.

06 March 2020- Amalaki Ekadashi

It is believed that god Vishnu resides in the tree of Amla. The amla tree is worshiped as per various rituals to get the grace of the deity.

19 March 2020- Papmochani Ekadashi

‘Papmochani’ means the one who removes the misdeeds you committed knowingly or unknowingly.

20 March 2020- Vaishnava Papmochani Ekadashi

Lord Vishnu is worshipped on this day with immense devotion and love. This ekadashi is observed by devotees to get liberated from the ill effects of the sins committed during their present and past lives.

04 April 2020- Kamada Ekadashi

It is the first ekadashi after the Hindu New Year and as it is believed to fulfil all desires of the devotees.

18 April 2020- Varuthini Ekadashi

Varuthini Ekadashi is also known as Baruthani Ekadashi, the fifth avatar of Vishnu, Vamana is worshipped.

03 May 2020- Mohini Ekadashi

It is believed that observing the Mohini Ekadashi Vrat with full devotion can provide good karmas which one cannot achieve even by going on pilgrimages.

04 May 2020- Vaishnava Mohini Ekadashi

By observing a vrat on this day, all the past sins will be destroyed and the person lives a happy and prosperous life.

18 May 2020- Apara Ekadashi

It is believed that by observing Apara Ekadashi vrat all the sins of the person will be washed away. This ekadashi is also popular by the name of ‘Achla Ekadashi’ and gives divine and auspicious results.

02 June 2020- Nirjala Ekadashi

Nirjala means ‘without water’. On Nirjala Ekadashi vrat the devotee has to fast without food and water.

17 June 2020 – Yogini Ekadashi

This fast can be observed by anyone who wants to avoid any kind of disease or health problems. This fast is important to be observed by people who are suffering from any skin related problems.

Ekadashi in July 2020

01 July 2020- Devshayani Ekadashi

A fast is observed on Shayani Ekadashi. The devotee must not eat grains, beans, cereals, certain vegetables like onions and certain spices.

16 July 2020- Kamika Ekadashi

It is a day dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country. It is believed that this ekadashi pardons all the sins and the person attains ‘moksha’.

30 July 2020 -Shravana Putrada Ekadashi

Shravana Putrada Ekadashi is also known as Pavitra Ekadashi. Worship of Vishnu is a common rite on all Ekadashi days including the Putrada Ekadashi to get salvation and get rid of all sins, to beget children (sons in particular).

15 August 2020 -Aja Ekadashi

On observing the Aja Ekadashi fast, the devotees cannot eat anything; even a drop of water is not allowed.

29 August 2020- Parsva Ekadashi

It is believed that observing fasts on this day will grant forgiveness for all his/her committed sins.

13 September 2020-Indira Ekadashi

13 October 2020, Parama Ekadashi

27 October 2020- Papankusha Ekadashi

Ekadashi in November 2020

11 November 2020- Rama Ekadashi

This ekadashi is also known as ‘Rambha Ekadashi’ or ‘Kartik Krishna Ekadashi’. By keeping a sacred fast on this day, all the sins of the observer are said to get washed away.

25 November 2020- Devutthana Ekadashi

This day is also known as Kartiki Ekadashi, Kartik Shukla ekadashi and Kartiki. It is believed that Lord Vishnu married to goddess Tulsi on this day.

November 26, 2020- Vaishnava Devutthana Ekadashi

10 December 2020- Utpanna Ekadashi

It is believed that this ekadashi helps the devotee to get rid of all their sins of both the present and past lives.

11 December 2020- Vaishnava Utpanna Ekadashi

The observer of the Vaishnava Utpanna Ekadashi engages oneself in spiritual practices and stay away from sinful thoughts and actions.

25 December 2020 -Mokshada Ekadashi

This ekadashi is for the person who desires success and happiness in all the fields of life. Saphala Ekadashi is a means to open the doors of abundance, success, prosperity and fortune.
