Chris Silverwood appointed as the Head Coach of the England Cricket Team
England New Head Coach – Chris Silverwood who was England’s fast bowling coach since the Ashes 2017 and 2018 test series is now
appointed as the head coach of England across the 3 formats. Silverwood will replace Trevor Bayliss, who stepped down after a successful summer season in England.

Ashely Giles, England’s former spinner and now the ECB director appointed Chris Silverwood as England’s next Head Coach. Giles took his time to appoint a new head coach after Bayliss stepped down from the post. Candidates like Alex Stewart, Gary Kirsten, and Graham Fort applied for this job along with Silverwood. But, Ashely Giles chose to select Chris Silverwood because he has been with the team since the 2017 and 2018 Ashes Test Series. England Cricket Board’s selection panel has members like Ashely Giles, CEO Tom Harrison, and Head of Coach development John Neal. These gentlemen unanimously agreed to Sliverwood’s appointment. The ECB conducted some interviews of their candidates and in that Chris Silverwood impressed them most. Gary Kirsten who was the head coach of South Africa and India previously was the front runner for this position. But, Kirsten fell behind in the interview process poorly. After that, Giles announced Chris Silverwood as the best and outstanding candidate.

Giles wanted the best person for the job but always preferred to choose his countryman for this job. He said that Silverwood will be the second homegrown head coach to take England’s charge. The appointment of Silverwood will surely boost England Cricket Board and the county’s game where Silverwood had learned the art of coaching to the next level. Chris Silverwood learnt his art of coaching from Essex. He first learnt as a bowling coach and then the head coach. In 2017, Silverwood took his club side to a championship victory which was their first win in 25 years. England Cricket believes that Silverwood is the man to take their international cricket team forward. He is a known figure in England and understands the systems and the structure of the England Cricket Board very well. With that, Silverwood also has close relations with Joe Root and Eoin Morgan. In the past few years, Silverwood has done well as the assistant coach’s role. He also has the ultimate respect from the players that he has worked with.

In the interview, Chris demonstrated the plans to move forward. With that, he also told what the red ball and the limited over teams need to do when they tour Australia next year for the Ashes and as well as the limited-overs tournaments. The highest quality of Silverwood is that he is a winner and his good relations with the county coaches and the directors are invaluable for the team. Chris took his county side Essex to victory in 2017. Silverwood said that he was honored and excited to be a part of the England cricket team. He will also be looking to build a team that the whole world will be proud of.
He believes that there are players with talent and potential for growth and said that he is confident of making an impact on the tours of New Zealand and South Africa. Chris Silverwood’s first assignment will be the tour of New Zealand which will start next month. England will play 2 test match series and 5 T20 International series in New Zealand.
England New Head Coach Chris Silverwood – England’s focus will be to improve in test cricket after they failed to reclaim the Ashes this year. Even Tough Chris Silverwood will be in charge of all the 3 formats but, he will be measured on England’s performance in the Test arena.
