Lewis Hamilton soared to victory at the F1 United States to all but seal the driver’s championship for himself as he moved 66 points clear of Sebastian Vettel at the top of the standings. The victory for Hamilton was unsurprising though as since the race has moved to Austin he has made the track all but his, winning all the races here since 2012 except once. With the win he not only broke a plethora of records but also steered Mercedes to a fourth consecutive Championship. Hamilton himself now only needs a top 5 finish in Mexico to win another championship title.

Fastest in every session, race winner Lewis Hamilton had the perfect weekend in Austin. He drove a slick and flawless race, one that left no chance for his opponents to even come close to him throughout the race. His fifth win in six races saw him win the race by 10 seconds, ahead of Vettel and Raikkonen who came second and third respectively. His prowess was so apparent that despite losing the lead to Vettel off the line he quickly regained the lead after his pit stop. “I was surprised Sebastian didn’t defend more,” Hamilton said. “I would have.” Hamilton starting from the front row for a record 117th time set the tone for the race from the practice and qualifying itself. He went onto win his fourth consecutive US Grand Prix victory, his ninth of the season, and his 62nd overall.

Mercedes’ fourth consecutive world championship for constructors is a magnificent result for the team that cannot be praised enough.”It is an awesome achievement – and it has been a tough year,” managing director of Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains Andy Cowell said.”Ferrari have been formidable opponents and that has been energizing for all of us. Everybody has raised their game, pushed really hard and been driven to make sure that we secure another championship. The effort that goes in at the factories – day in any day out, seven days a week – is very humbling to see, and that’s what puts this total car together and delivers these results.”

Hamilton goes into the Mexico F1 with one hand on the title. Expect another mindblowing performance from him as he will look to secure the title in style with another win.
