Barring Liverpool, Leicester City, Cardiff and Fulham it was business as usual for all the heavyweights in the third round of the FA Cup with all the usual suspects winning their matches easily to progress to the next stage of the oldest cup tournament in England. One of the most prestigious and stellar tournament in the land saw the major sides reserve their side in the round of 16 with Manchester City and Tottenham registering the biggest wins of the stage, humiliating lower league clubs Tranmere and Rotherham respectively by seven goals in a display of delicious attacking, pacey, fluid and devastating football.

Meanwhile, current holders Chelsea sealed their progression to the ensuing round with a 2-0 victory at home. Despite reeling from injuries, it was a comfortable win from the defending champions who won 2-0, courtesy of goals from Alvaro Morata.
It wasn’t all joy and jubilation for Liverpool though whose gloom and torrid association with the cup continued. In what should have been a regulation victory for them, they were sent crashing from the cup by giant killers Wolverhampton who with the win have now registered results against each of the top 6 sides in the premier league.
There was no one to blame for the capitulation but Liverpool themselves with manager Klopp needed to take the accountability for the innocuous performance his side put up. Rotating too much, Liverpool decided to go in with a side heavily made up of bench players against a Wolverhampton outfit who are known to churn out the big performances on the big days especially at the Molineux Stadium.
Suffering the brunt of their lacklustre showing, Liverpool was schooled by Wolverhampton who were by far the better side on the night, being in complete control for the entirety of the match before emerging on top.
