Hindi Diwas is observed every year on 14 September. The day celebrates the adoption of Hindi as an official language of India. On this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of India. The decision was later ratified by the Indian Constitution, which came into effect on 26 January 1950. Hindi Diwas was recognized due to the efforts of Beohar Rajendra Simha. He along with Kaka Kalelkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt, Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, and Seth Govind Das debated in the Parliament on this issue.
