Farhan didn’t mention any reason for his decision by deleting the account. But it is being speculated that the actor did so in the wake of the Facebook Data crack row.
Farhan moves come after the recent incident of Facebook data breaching, in which Facebook faced worldwide criticism over the claims that Cambridge Analytica, a British consulting company, was accused of collecting data of up to 50 million Facebook users without permission and using the data to help politicians, including US President Donald Trump and the Brexit campaign. It has been revealed that the data from Facebook was used to help political campaigns.
Even the WhatsApp Co-founder Brian Acton tweeted, that it is the time to Delete Facebook (by using the hashtag #DeleteFacebook ) due the criticism faced by Facebook over the handled recent data leak.
However, Farhan is not only the actor who has deleted his personal account from Facebook. Even the famous Hollywood actor Jim Carrey has also deleted his personal Facebook account last month.
He explained the reason that he dumped his Facebook verified account because Facebook profited from political interference in the elections and Facebook is not taking any action to stop. Lastly, he further encouraged other investors to delete their Facebook profile if they care about the future.
I’m dumping my @facebook stock and deleting my page because @facebook profited from Russian interference in our elections and they’re still not doing enough to stop it. I encourage all other investors who care about our future to do the same. #unfriendfacebook pic.twitter.com/KHWgZzhhmp
