Coming back to the Russia vs Saudi Arabia match highlights, with the celebrations behind them, the world cup began with the hosts taking on Saudi Arabia in one of the most one-sided opening match in the history of the tournament. The Luzhniki Stadium witnessed complete and utter dominance against a rather poor Saudi Arabia side that clearly looked well below the standard of the tournament. A fine attacking show by substitute Cheryshev and CSKA Moscow player Golovin blew the visitors apart as the duo danced past their players for fun. Unable to contain the pace and guile of the Russian players, Saudi Arabia opened themselves up time and time again to go down by 5-0 in the first game of group A.
