It was then that the International cricketing world caught an eye on a player who wore a helmet for the first time.

It was the former England batsman Dennis Amiss, who was seen wearing a helmet for the first time on a cricket field. The first century in cricket and the World Cup is also named after Amiss. He was a former opener for the England Cricket Team.

Dennis Amiss completed his first century in ODI cricket in a match that was played against Australia at Manchester on August 8, 1939. This was also the first ODI match for Amiss, but only the second ODI between England and Australia in the cricket world.

The first century in the World Cup is named after Dennis Amis. In the first World Cup of 1979, Amiss scored a ton at Lord’s, in the match which was played against India. Later, Amiss was dismissed by India’s all-rounder Madan Lal. This was the first World Cup match for both India and England.

It was not easy to face fast bowlers from teams of like Australia and West Indies in the past. So Dennis Amiss fought a battle in his way. He brought on a motorcycle helmet to face fast bowlers from Australia and the West Indies.

Although it wasn’t easy but he wore the helmet and completed a century. It was in the year 1959 that helmet made its way on the cricket field for the first time. After that, the use of helmets started to become a more often thing in cricket.

Earlier, batsman used a scalp cap or hat, but those didn’t do much to protect batsmen’s head. So, the helmet was finally discovered for the safety of the cricketers.
