football news Bundesliga – Borussia Dortmund vs Schalke 04 (4-0):
The match marked the return of the Bundesliga amid a coronavirus struck Europe. BVB thrashed their rivals Schalke 4-0 in the Revierderby. As the world witnessed the return of Europe’s major league football amid an empty stadium, Bavarian minister-president Markus Soder warned that the match could be called off anytime if a breach of protocol was found.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring for his team with his 28th-minute goal. And just before halftime, Raphael Guerreiro doubled the lead. A couple of goals from Thorgan Hazard and Guerreiro again saw the home team cruising through.
Fans all around the world witnessed what post-coronavirus football will look like. There were no celebrations in closed groups among the players as they adhered to the protocols set by German Football Association (DFL) to follow social distancing after scoring, and an absence of the crowd meant no cheers for the players. Still, the resumption of the German League football gave people hope, that was much needed in these crazy times.
