IPL 2020: Glenn Maxwell to miss the starting matches for Kings XI Punjab due to injury

Glenn Maxwell News IPL 2020 – It is shocking news from the Kings XI Punjab camp after Rajasthan Royals had a big blow earlier in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020).

Jofra Archer was the leading wicket-taker for RR but due to his injury, Archer decided to withdraw from the IPL 2020. The England bowler will be back on the field in a series against the West Indies in June.  So it is clear that he will not play in the 2020 IPL season.

After Rajasthan, it is a major blow for Kings XI Punjab as well. Many all-rounder players in their squad are getting bad signals for the opening few matches of the IPL. This is because, the Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell has withdrawn from the upcoming One-Day and Twenty20 series against South Africa due to a back injury.

Maxwell needs to undergo surgery on his left arm which is why D’Arcy Short is now included in the Aussie squad. “It will take nearly 6 to 8 weeks for him to recover from the injury”, as said by Cricket Australia. So, Maxwell is likely to miss the opening few matches of the IPL which starts on March 29, 2020.

Maxwell, while playing in the Big Bash League, told the Australia medical team that he was suffering from pain in left hand’s elbow during the league. That pain has only increased. So he has to get treatment now.

Glenn Maxwell News IPL 2020 – Maxwell also feared that he could not perform well in international cricket due to his injury and that is what made him withdraw from the Africa series as well. “I think it is a fortune to represent Australia but, with this pain, I do not believe that I will do well in international cricket. So I have decided to undergo surgery on this injury.”

Despite performing well in the Big Bash League, he was dropped out from the Aussie team which visited India. In October 2019, he was rested due to mental stress in the series against Sri Lanka. But then he played every match in the Big Bash League and was eager to make a comeback in international cricket.

Kings XI Punjab paid Rs 10.75 crores in the IPL auction. But now, they will have a huge blow because of Maxi’s absence for the upcoming season of the IPL 2020.
