Gurpreet Singh Sandhu is widely regarded as the Indian Football team’s best player. India is still learning how to play possession-based football and because of that the Indian defence gets tested by the opponents a lot and our goalkeeper always seems to give his best with the end number of dives and saves he makes in every game.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was born on 3 February 1992 and is currently 27 years old. Sandhu was named as the captain of the India national team for the friendly match against Puerto Rico on 3 September where team India won the match with 4 goals to 1. Gurpreet plays for Bengaluru FC and has won the ISL once.

Opposition skipper Hassan Al-Haydos and Qatari goal machine Almoez Ali appeared disappointed as the Indian goalkeeper confidently dealt with 14 goal-scoring opportunities created by the hosts in just the first half itself. At the end of the match, Qatar head coach Felix Sanchez acknowledged that Sandhu was the best player on the pitch and hailed the Indian stopper for stealing what seemed like a guaranteed three points before the game. He congratulated the Indian team for keeping the clean sheet and lauded the towering goalkeeper for being the best player on the pitch in the 90 minutes that were played.

After his performance against Qatar, the expectation from the Indian team and Gurpreet himself are the highest they have ever been. Indian football is finally being talked about and getting the media and coverage it deserves. The Blue Tigers are no longer dormant.
