That one day of the week when we take a break from stuffing ourselves with salads and vegetables and all that healthy jazz is truly exquisite. The only motivation we have all week is the thought of greasy pizzas and spicy ramen and of course, chocolate cake, on that glorious cheat day. However, even on our cheat days, since our digestive system is used to eating little portions which aren’t heavy at all, 3/4 slices of pizza or a huge slice of cake is nothing less than torture for our stomach. So here is an easy, quick, and light recipe for a mug cake that will satisfy your cravings without adding excessive calories to your body.
One Minute Mug Cake :
Difficulty level : Easy
Prep time : 5 minutes
Cooking time : 1 minute
Serves : 1
Ingredients :
2 tbsp flour
1 tbsp cocoa
1/4th tsp baking powder
1/4th tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla essence
1.5 tbsp milk
1.5 tbsp oil
2.5 tbsp caster sugar
1.5 tbsp chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (optional)
Method :
In a large microwaveable mug, add flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and sugar and mix them well with a fork.
Once the dry ingredients are properly combined, add in the wet ingredients one by one.
First add the milk and mix well.
Then add the oil and mix well.
Finally, add in the vanilla essence and give it a through final mix.
If you are adding in the chocolate chips/ chocolate chunks, gently fold them into the mixture.
Put the mug with the mixture in the microwave for one minute.
Once the timer for the microwave beeps, poke the centre of the cake gently with a toothpick. If it comes out clean (without any batter sticking to the toothpick), the cake is ready for you to devour!
NOTE : Depending on the voltage of your microwave, you may need to put it in for an extra 15/30 seconds.
Serve hot with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
