Functions of the Eye – Why is exercise for eyes necessary?
Eyes give us the ability to receive and process visual details, as well as enable several photo response functions that are independent of vision. They detect light and convert it into electro-chemical impulses in neurons. In higher organisms, it is a complex optical system which collects light from the surrounding environment, regulates its intensity through a diaphragm, focuses it through an adjustable assembly of lenses to form an image, converts this image into a set of electrical signals, and transmits these signals to the brain via complex neural pathways that connect the eye through the optic nerve to the visual cortex and other areas of the brain.

Now, understanding all the major functions of the eyes, it is clear that we need to exercise for eyes everyday because unless we do that, there is a high chance that our vision will suffer. This is because every day, since the time we get up and till the time we go to bed, our eyes are the most consistently used organ in our body. So, in order to keep it ready for use every day, we must take care of them.
Effective exercise for eyes – Exercising for better vision
Although it is hard to improve eyesight with the help of exercising alone, but it is evident that these exercise for eyes can help in controlling your eye sight from getting worse. If you already wear glasses and want improvement in your eyes, practice these exercises every day, without fail and if you don’t wear glasses are concerned about your eyesight, these exercises are a must.
This exercise for eyes is one that everyone should practice and especially those who use computer screens all day at work because digital eye strain can become a problem. The 20-20-20 rule helps in easing digital eye strain with a simple method to look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds in every 20 minutes.

This is an easy to perform exercise that you can practice while sitting. All you need to do is hold your index or any finger and keep it 3 inches away from one eye. Now, focus on the tip of the finger and slowly move your finger away from your face. Now, focus on an object in the background and then back on the finger. Now, focusing on the tip of your finger again, bring back your finger close to your eye. Repeat this exercise 3 times.
Start with focusing on an area on the floor that is nearly 8 feet away from you. Now move your eyes in the shape of 8. Trace the imaginary figure of 8 for 30 seconds and then switch the direction.
Well, this sounds crazy but a fact is that when we focus on a TV or computer screen, we often blink less. So, if you start to notice that your eyes seem dry or your head is starting to ache, stop and try to blink at a normal rate.
Roll your Eyes
Without moving your head, look right, left, up, and down several times. Also rotate your eyes balls clockwise and anticlockwise.
Palms for Relaxation
Rub your palms against each other and gently cup your palms over your closed eyes until all the after images fade to black. Hold this for about 30 seconds and make sure not to put any pressure on your eyes.
