It is recommended not to consume foods rich in carbs and sugar at night. For example, desserts, confectionery, pastries, etc. It is because if you eat such food before sleeping it will increase the sugar level in your body. But in just a few hours, the sugar-levels will drop and make you feel hungry again. It can also affect your teeth and gums.
Coffee
Drinking coffee can affect your sleep as coffee reduces sleep. Caffeine remains in our system for hours, so it’s best to avoid coffee in the late evening or several hours before going to bed. It’s better to drink milk rather than coffee.
Alcohol
Alcohol is very disruptive to your sleep cycle and has negative effects on your health in the longer run. Regularly consuming alcohol, especially before bedtime, can worsen the sleep quality that might wake you up in the middle of the night.

Soda
Not only at night but drinking soda anytime is bad for your health. Apart from its other side effects, it’s full-on sugar, which will leave you wide awake.

Chilies and hot peppers are a good option when you don’t want to sleep early. You should avoid eating spicy food before bed as it affects our sleep by triggering our gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). Spices contain antioxidants which boost metabolism and serve as a wake-up call for the body, making it increasingly difficult to fall asleep.
Diuretic Foods
Celery, carrots, cucumber, ginger, watermelons are all diuretic foods and are very healthy. But still, it is a bad idea to have diuretic foods before going to bed because they’re going to make you get up to pee. And getting up multiple times in the middle of the night to go to the toilet can affect the quality of your sleep. So have them a few hours before bedtime.
