Today we will be discussing yoga asanas from PM Modi Yoga Video.

On 29th March 2020, during PM Modi’s show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the PM was asked about his fitness routine during the ongoing pandemic. To this, PM Narendra Modi tweeted, recommending everyone to follow his yoga routine.

Now, let us discuss two of the best yoga asanas recommended by PM Narendra Modi, their benefits, and how to perform the yoga asanas.

Vrikshasana – Tree Pose

The word Vriksha means ‘Tree’. This asana makes the posture of the body steady, straight, and strong, just like a tree.

How to Perform Vrikshasana:

  • Stand straight with your feet at a distance of two inches from one another.
  • Focus on the point right in front of your eyes.
  • Take a deep breath out.
  • Slowly bend your right leg. Raise it up to rest it on the inner thigh of your left leg.
  • Now take a deep breath in and slowly raise your hand above your head.
  • Breath in and out for 10-30 seconds.
  • Now, bring your arms down and then lower your right leg back on the ground.
  • Repeat this asana with your left leg.

Benefits of Vrikshasana: This asana helps in maintaining balance, steadiness, and alertness of the brain. It also helps in near muscular co-ordination and strengthens the leg muscles. People suffering from Arthritis, Vertigo, or Obesity should refrain from trying this asana.

Tadasana – Mountain Pose

The word Tad means Palm Tree. Performing this asana, makes the body posture strong and tall, just like a palm tree.

How to perform Tadasana:

  • Stand straight with your feet at a distance of two inches from one another.
  • Lift your hands in front, till your shoulder length.
  • Keep your palms facing each other and interlock your fingers.
  • Now twist your interlocked palms in the opposite direction.
  • Take a deep breath in and slowly raise your hands above your head.
  • Now, slowly lift your kneel above the ground and stand on your toes.
  • Stay in this position for 10-15 seconds.
  • Now slowly bring your kneels back on the ground and release your fingers.

Benefits of Tadasana: Practicing this asana regularly can help in improving balance. It helps in getting rid of congestion in your Spinal Nerves, improves the posture of the body, and strengthens the thighs, knees, and heels. This asana also brings stability to your body and your mind. Patients with Heart Disease, Vertigo, and Varicose Veins must refrain from performing this asana.
