For example: In winters when your back starts to pain you naturally think of using a heating pad instead of thinking to use an ice pad. Similarly when you don’t think heating an injury would make you feel comfortable, you tend to use the ice treatment instead.
You must go with your instincts… Well sometimes you can be wrong to choosing between should you heat or ice an injury.
Here are some cases when you must Ice an Injury.
- Ice is helpful in calming down the damaged superficial tissues, which means skin which is inflamed, red, hot or swollen can use an ice treatment.
- Icing an injury is a drugless way of healing the pain of inflammation and swellings.
Here are some cases when you must Heat an Injury.
- Heating for muscle aches or stiffness in muscles is helpful only when you are not sure why it is paining.
- Chronic pains like back pain can be fixed by using a heating pad. It is usually caused due to a lot of tensions, anxieties, etc. A heat can soothe your mind when it is jangled and your body’s nervous system.
- Never use a heating treatment on bleeding injuries.
- Don’t use either of these treatments on skins with poor physical conditions or on skin where you have poor circulation.
- Don’t use it on skin with infections.
- Avoid direct contact of injured skin with ice.
- Don’t use these treatments after 48 hours of any injury without the right guidance.
