Winter has already marched in and so do the seasonal cold. However, sometimes the traditional things do not work too well! That’s when these foods will come to the rescue to soothe the itchy throat:
Honey and Lemon
Nothing works better than a concoction of hot water, honey, and lemon. Honey is a cold suppressant and when coupled with the goodness of lemon, the mix will really make you feel better instantly.
Blueberry and Banana Smoothie
While the smooth texture of the smoothie will not hurt going down your throat, it will help in soothing the red-hot soreness in the throat. Further, blueberries contain astringent tannins that soothe sore throats, while bananas are soft and easy to swallow and are loaded with fiber and flu-fighting vitamin C.
Scrambled Eggs
Not only will the eggs go easy on the throat, but also being rich in essential nutrients like protein and omega-6 fatty acids, they will help in fighting inflammation in the throat.
Cabbage
Since this green leafy vegetable, cabbage, is loaded with anti-oxidants, vitamin C, sulfur and other essential nutrients, it can help in reducing the inflammation of a sore throat.
Cloves
Add about 1-2 cloves while preparing tulsi-ginger tea if nothing is working too well. Since cloves are anti-fungal and also have anesthetic properties, it can provide relief from the scratchiness and pain instantly.
Oatmeal
We understand eating regular wheat chapati with veggies that might contain chili is not a very good idea and consuming a regular meal might as well aggravate the pain, hence, Oatmeal is the perfect alternative for lunch, dinner or breakfast. Oats contain omega-3 fatty acids, folate, and potassium which can speed up the healing process and also has good carbs to provide you all the energy you need for daily chores!
