ICC Cricket New Rules 2022 PDF Download – The Chief Executives’ Committee has introduced changes to ICC cricket rules after recommendations received from Sourav Ganguly’s Men’s Cricket Committee. ICC Cricket Rules: Changes

Batters Returning When Caught
The new batter replacing the batter out Caught, will take place at the end the previous striker was at, irrespective of whether the batters had crossed before the catch.

Use of Saliva to Polish the Ball
A temporary ban on using saliva to polish the ball came into place as a COVID-19 precaution. However, this change has been made permanent now.

Incoming Batter Ready to Face the Ball
A batter will have to take a strike within 2 minutes in ODIs and Tests, and in 90 seconds in T20Is.

Striker’s Right to Play the Ball
A striker is required to keep some part of his bat or person within the pitch. If the striker goes beyond the pitch, the umpire will declare it a dead ball. Also, if a ball forces the striker to leave the pitch, it will be called a no-ball.

Unfair Movement by the Fielding Side
An unfair or inappropriate movement by fielders while the bowler is bowling may lead to 5 penalty runs and a call of the dead ball.

Running out of the Non-Striker
Run out will be moved from the ‘Unfair Play’ section to the ‘Run Out’ section.

Bowler Throwing towards Striker’s End Before Delivery
The practice of throwing the bowl when the batter advances down the wicket before entering the delivery stride to run out the striker will now be called Dead Bowl.

Other Changes:
The in-match penalty of bringing an additional fielder in the fielding circle for the remaining overs when a fielding team is unable to bowl their overs in the scheduled time will be applicable to ODI matches. The penalty was 1st introduced in T20I matches in January 2022. It will be applicable after ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League in 2023.

Hybrid pitches will be allowed to be used if agreed by all Men’s and Women’s teams. Currently, hybrid pitches are only used in Women’s T20I matches.
