2019 World Cup Commentators – The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently released the list of commentators for the upcoming ICC Cricket World cup 2019 scheduled to start from 30 May 2019 when the host England takes on a resurgent South African side. The star-studded list of 24 commentators includes three Indian names which include former captain Sourav Ganguly. They are the part of the commentator team for the ICC TV. The regional broadcasters will, however, add more names as they get ready to broadcast the ICC world cup in their regional spectrum.
Apart from Sourav Ganguly, the other two Indian names include the renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle and former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar who has been the regular in all the ICC tournaments as well. Kumar Sangakkara, who was announced to be the first non-British President of the Marylebone Cricket Club would be the only Sri Lankan commentator to be available in the World Cup.
Other notable South Asian names in the list of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 commentators include the former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram and batsman Ramiz Raja while also including Bangladesh’s Athar Ali Khan. As many as 6 commentators have been chosen from the host country of England while 3 commentators come from New Zealand.

The ICC has also included three lady commentators in the form of Isha Guha, Melanie Jones, and Alison Mitchell in the ICC’s Commentary Panel. Michael Clark, captain of the Australian successful campaign in the previous world cup for Australia has also made in the list released by the apex body recently. He will make his debut in the world cup along with other Australian commentators, Michael Slater and Melanie Jones.
England has seen a host of ICC cricket tournament being conducted there with that of Champions Trophy and the ICC Twenty 20 world cup as well. The ICC commentator panel has not changed barring the name of Michael Clark leading up to this world cup as compared with the previous ICC T20 world cup held in England as well. The ICC gives rights for the regional broadcasters to broadcast the tournaments in the regions and they have the freedom to choose their commentator panel as well. In India, the world cup would be broadcasted by Star Sport in both Hindi and English.
