ICC CWC 2019 England vs Bangladesh 12th Match Preview Prediction – “Sides will beat each other. Don’t think many sides will go unbeaten. Going to be a competitive tournament” were some of the words in the post-match presentations from Eoin Morgan, the English captain after a considerable defeat from Pakistan at Trentbridge. This has indeed been the case with the teams this world cup with no teams secure and no positions safe. A tournament format such as this brings out the best in any team and England has just been the victim of such a spirit. Bangladesh, on the other hand, had a spirited performance themselves before submitting in the last minutes against New Zealand who once had their hearts in their mouths but managed to escape the situation pretty well in the end. Had Bangladesh not beaten South Africa comprehensively in their opening game, England would have considered this match a cakewalk but given their spirited fight and resilience, this must be termed an even fight.

England Team Preview

Bangladesh has always been the most unpredictable sides in the world and the prospect of a world cup brings out the best in them. England must be having some serious thoughts in their minds regarding this and strategizing the onslaught would be the key. While South Africa tested Bangladeshi batsmen with bouncers and beamers, New Zealand bowlers tested them with pace and swing but none of them passed in their strategies to suppress the Bangladeshi sides. However, it was they who gave their wickets in closed packets to the bowlers.

The English batsmen would love to exploit the Cardiff which often goes for high scores. While Jason Roy failed to a strategy of using spinners by Pakistan, Bairstow’s aggression saw his ends soon as well. Both of the openers would try to stay positive because Bangladesh would employ some similar trick of using spin bowlers up front. This might be tricky as Shakib and Mehidy have been impressive thus far. They must negotiate the spin well before playing their shots. Jason Roy’s habit of using his feet to advance down the track to hit the bowler above his head might not work against Bangladeshi spinners as they have all the tricks up their sleeve for any such onslaught.

Joe Root has been their best bet this world cup and he would be crucial again if Bangladesh tries to make some inroads earlier in the innings. He has been fantastic against the pace bowling while being astoundingly successful in negotiating the spin as well. What he would want is to finish games for his team before it gets intense. Morgan and stokes too would want to get some runs before the tournament becomes intense. Buttler too was brilliant in the last game against Pakistan but failed to finish the game which he must be lamenting. His main goal in the next match would be to finish the game next time he gets going.

England’s bowling would also want to get some restructuring done. Mark Wood was picked ahead of Plunkett to derail the Pakistani side with bouncers along with Archer but both these bowlers leaked too many runs. Their motto would be to reconsider their bowling Plan and bowl smartly. The spinners in Moeen Ali and Rashid hasn’t been bowling great in the conditions and they would want to correct that.

Tamim Iqbal’s side had five players in Shakib, Tamim, Mortaza, Mahmadullah and Mushfiqur Rahim who have by now played at least three world cups. The impetus of success would largely have dwelled on the shoulders of these stalwarts and they have rightfully taken that role in the team themselves. Called as their last world cup, these heroes have more often than not taken Bangladesh to the doors of victory. Such has been the tale in this world cup as well.

Both of the matches in the world cup have seen some emphatic opening stands by the Bangladeshi batsmen. While Soumya Sarkar was excellent in the first match, Tamim Iqbal was prophetic in the second match. The problem with both of them was neither of them thought to spend more time at the crease while their ambition drove them to pavilion. But the star of the Bangladeshi batting must be Shakib Al Hasan who has been brilliant hitting two fifties in as many matches often taking the team out from some bad moments. It was the run out of Rahim which brought New Zealand back into the game; otherwise, they would have witnessed similar run fest as against South Africa. The other batsmen did not try to implement themselves in the crease as well which often cost their wicket. Mahmadullah too did not try to get into the groove as well which will be expected of him in the next game against the host.

The bowling has by far looked most impressive from Bangladesh and particularly from Shakib and Mehidy Hasan. They would play a larger role in getting some early wicket provided the team management tries to use them against the English openers who have been vulnerable to spin in both the matches. While Tahir was successful in getting Bairstow out in the first match, Shadab Khan struck with the wicket of Jason Roy. A Similar ploy from Bangladesh could see another great result as well.
