ICC CWC 2019 Sri Lanka vs Australia 20th Match Preview Prediction -Sri Lanka have had last two of their games rained off and while they wouldn’t be entirely happy with that, they still got two points added to their tally, one each from the two abandoned games, which means they are now fifth in the standings just behind India.
Australia, on the other hand, made a comeback after their defeat at the hands of India as they toppled Pakistan yesterday at Taunton to climb up to no. 2 in the table.

Possible changes in the two teams
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka went into the last game without a specialist spinner and there was a valid reason to that. They were playing on a green top and they thought an all-pace attack was the way to go which proved to be right eventually.
But they might need a spinner for this game at Oval, especially considering the fact that Nuwan Pradeep is injured and is unlikely to be available for this game. They have a couple of leg spinners in the squad in Jeevan Mendis and Jeffrey Vandersay and they will probably go with Mendis as he can bat as well.

Australia might actually make a couple of changes, but that depends on the fitness status of Marcus Stoinis. The 29-year old all-rounder couldn’t play the last game because of a side strain, but if he is declared fit for this game, he might replace Shaun Marsh or Usman Khawaja in the Australian XI.
Australia might also drop Kane Richardson for Adam Zampa. Richardson although, in the game against Pakistan, got a couple of wickets, but he was a tad expensive. Zampa, being a leggie, adds another dimension to the Australian attack which otherwise looks a little bit one-dimensional.

Players to watch out for
Sri Lanka (Kusal Perera and Lasith Malinga)
Kusal Perera’s technique resembles a little bit with that of Sanath Jayasuriya and his approach is the same as well. Like Jayasuriya, he also looks to take on the bowling upfront regardless of the conditions and if he gets going, he can dismantle the bowlers in a matter of 10 to 15 overs.

Lasith Malinga might not be as effective these days as he used to be in the past, but he showed in the latter parts of the game against Afghanistan that the lion is still alive. The precision with which he nailed the Yorkers to wipe out the Afghan tail, he will be someone Sri Lanka will be banking on again.

Australia (Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins)
Although Maxwell got out cheaply against Pakistan, he is someone who has the capability to change the complexion of the game in his team’s favor from any situation and if Australia use him well and give him enough time to showcase his stroke-play skills; he is as dangerous as anyone in white-ball cricket at the moment.

Pat Cummins was an absolute delight to watch at Taunton yesterday. Not only the pace that he generated, but the channel that he consistently bowled in, it was remarkable. Hardly ever did he err with his line and his ability to get sideways movement off the surface makes him a really tricky customer to deal with. Sri Lanka will have to tackle him really skillfully.
