- Indian captain Virat Kohli is No.1
- He has 876 points
- De Villiers and Warner are 2nd and 3rd
- Rohit also makes the list on 5th
The ICC rankings are out for the first month of 2018 with two Indian batsmen making to the list. Continuing from last year, Indian captain and without a doubt the best batsmen in the world Virat Kohli maintains his top spot with 878 rating points despite missing out on the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka. He is still some rating points off his career best 889 against New Zealand in 2017. The remaining top 3 is made up by Ab de Villiers from South Africa and Australian opener David Warner.
The list sees World No.1 ODI side South Africa have the most number of players with four batsmen. Swashbuckling batsman De Villiers is joined by counterparts Quinton De Kock, veteran Hashim Amla and Francois du Plessis. The second team in the rankings India sees the next most players in the list with opener Rohit Sharma climbing to the fifth spot in the rankings on the back of some fantastic performances against the Sri Lankans which also saw him notch up another 200. This takes the Indians tally to two batsmen in the list. With six of the ten spots occupied by players from these two countries, Australia, Pakistan, England and New Zealand complete the rankings with one player from each country. With South Africa and India currently involved in a test series against each, the remaining batsmen have a chance to make up lost spots in the rankings and dethrone the two countries from their spots. Batsmen from New Zealand and Pakistan are expected to be the earliest movers in the rankings with both the countries currently engaged in a five match ODI series.
