ICC rankings 2020 team – Fans of all sports are upset with the ongoing pandemic and its impact on sports but now there is more sad news for Indian and Pakistani cricket fans. The International Cricket Council revealed their new rankings in the shortest and the longest format of the game.
In these rankings, India and Pakistan have lost their top positions which they earlier held in Test and T20s respectively. According to the latest rankings, the mighty Aussies are back to the number 1 position in test matches and have successfully dethroned Pakistan to claim the number 1 spot in T20 rankings as well.
For the first time since October 2016, Australia has made it to the top spot in test matches and T20 Internationals. They have never been the number 1 ranked team since the rankings system was introduced by the ICC in 2011.

The top three teams are separated by just 1 point from each other in the current ICC test rankings. These top 3 teams in the test rankings are the second closet teams since the test rankings were launched in the year 2003. The first closet top three teams of the ICC Test rankings were India, Australia, and South Africa in 2016. That year, India was ahead of Australia and South Africa by one point.
ICC rankings 2020 team – The old rankings were removed and the latest rankings were updated by the International Cricket Council. India had won 12 test matches, lost just 1 series, and had won 5 test series in this period. India has won at least one test match on their tour of England and South Africa, but the men in blue couldn’t win the series on their soil. The series Down Under in Australia was the biggest achievement for India under Kohli’s captaincy.
Despite being at the third position in the latest ICC test rankings, India still holds the top spot in the ICC World Test Championship points table. India lost just two points when New Zealand whitewashed India in the test matches while India toured the Kiwi nation earlier this year. India tops the test championship points table with 360 points. Australia is at the second spot with 296 points.
ICC rankings 2020 team – In the latest T20 Rankings announced by the ICC, Australia is in the first place in the shortest format. The Aussies are on the top position with 278 points, followed by England at the second spot with 268 points and India at the third spot with 266 points. The earlier number 1 team, Pakistan, has been dropped down to the fourth position, followed by South Africa at fifth.

The men in blue have 119 points to their name, followed by New Zealand at the third spot with 116 points. Following them is South Africa, which holds the fourth spot with 108 points and Australia which is the fifth-ranked team with 107 points.
Australia regained the Ashes Test series on England soil. The new world number 1 rankers were unbeaten for 5 test matches which they played at home. Australia whitewashed Pakistan and New Zealand in the Test series, while in the T20 International series, the Aussies won by the margin of 2-1 against South Africa in South Africa. Their team in the shortest format is also unbeaten for six test matches which they played at home.
ICC rankings 2020 team – Australia’s head coach, Justin Langer, said, “They will have to work a lot to be the best team across all formats. In the last couple of years, Australia has not only performed well but they have gained respect on and off the field. This journey of Australia started with the aim of being the number 1 team in all three formats. The team took a different approach and wanted to gain that number 1 tag through their values and process.”
If Australia defeats India in India then they will think that they have achieved a top spot in the test cricket. When India toured Australia last year, India won the Test and the ODI series on Australia soil. Now the Aussies want India to get that back when India visits Australia next.
