Trashing West Indies in the recently concluded T20 series paid rich dividends for several players of the Indian team in the latest edition of the ICC T20 international rankings 2018. Making big strides up the table were Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav with Rohit moving to 7th from 10th and Kuldeep rising up 14 places to reach the 23rd position.
Coming back to ICC T20 international rankings 2018, Rohit who captained India in the series was instrumental to the team’s cause in sweeping the series 3-0. The skipper who entered the rare club of players scoring more than 200 boundaries in T20s and also became the second highest run-getter in T20s, was rewarded for his rich vein of form in the rankings released by the International Cricket Council.

Riding on the back of his century in the second T20 in Lucknow for which he was also given the man of the match award, Rohit moved up three places in the ranking with 707 points to move up from 10th place to 7th. Fellow opener Shikhar Dhawan was the other Indian batsmen who moved up in the rankings, reaching 16th with a rise of 5 places. Virat Kohli, however, saw himself fall two places to sit at 14th after being rested for the series.
In the bowling department, Kuldeep Yadav was the biggest mover after picking up five wickets in the first two matches which also included a man of the match performance in the first T20. The pace duo of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah made notable improvements in their rankings as well, climbing up the ladder by nine and five places respectively to reach the 19th and 21st spot.
Ranked second in the world rankings, India’s dominant series win saw them collect 3 points to move up to 127 rating points in the table. Seventh-ranked West Indies dropped 4 points to end up with 102.
In the ODI rankings, it was good news for India as well who have been on a roll throughout the year. The Asia Cup win was added to by the 3-1 series win against the West Indies to take India to 121 rating points, just 5 points behind England who sit at the top. India’s one-two in the bowling and batting rankings continued with Virat Kohli leading the charts for batsmen and Jasprit Bumrah ruling the roost in the bowling department with 899 and 841 points respectively.
