Here is the detailed ICC T20 World Cup 2020 schedule and format.

2020 brings with it an absolutely exquisite and exuberant schedule in the cricketing world with the International Cricket Council announcing that the year will host both the men’s and women’s T20 world cups. The recently announced schedule by the ICC sees for the first time ever in international cricket, both the men’s and women’s categories playing the T20 world cup in the same year and country, each as standalone tournaments. The tournament will be held in Australia, spanning 8 cities and 13 stadiums with the women’s discipline taking place in February while the men’s will kick start their campaign in October.

Renaming the previously known World T20 as the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in a bid to revamp the tournament and cement its importance in international cricket along with ensuring parity across all three formats in women’s cricket, the ICC have announced that the showpiece tournament is all slated to get underway from February 21st in Australia. India will take on defending champions and hosts, Australia in what is the perfect way to begin such a prestigious tournament.

They will follow it up with three more games beginning with a second group game against a qualifier on February 26 at the WACA, Perth against New Zealand on February 27 and Sri Lanka on February 29 at Junction Oval, Melbourne.

The 10 sides have been dived into two groups of 5 with two sides from each group making it through to the semi-finals which will be played on 5th March before the tournament final concludes on March 8th, the same day as the International Women’s Day.

Meanwhile, the lay down from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup sees the qualifiers beginning on October 18th with Sri Lanka squaring off against 3 other competitors in Group A while Bangladesh and 3 yet to be decided teams will fight it out for two spots in the main event set to go underway from November 24 when Australia will take on Pakistan in the tournament opener.

India will get their tournament underway the ICC T20 World Cup on October 24, 2020, against South Africa in Perth. Placed in a tough Group B, India will then go on to play a qualifier match at MCG in Melbourne. It will be followed by facing England at the same venue before their final two fixtures of the Super 12s against another qualifier and Afghanistan at the Adelaide and SCG, Sydney respectively.

 Like the women’s final, the men’s final will be played at the MCG, on the evening of November 15, 2020, and will be telecast in India at 2:00 pm.
