Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s scintillating performance in the women’s world T20 saw her become the biggest gainer from India in the latest ICC Women T20 2018 rankings . The dynamic and explosive batswoman was in outstanding form in the recently concluded tournament, finishing the world cup as the second highest run-getter behind player of the tournament, Australian opener Alyssa Healy. Her exploits saw her gain three places to rise up to the third spot in the rankings for batswomen.

Coming back to ICC Women T20 2018 rankings, Harmanpreet Kaur’s world cup was highlighted by her blazing century in the tournament opener against New Zealand. Becoming the first Indian player to score a century at the T20 world cup, Kaur was consistent throughout the showpiece event, delivering star performances for India throughout the group stages. Her clean hitting and neat touches saw her take centre stage at the world cup, catching everyone’s eyes with her gutsy style of batting. Aggregating 183 runs in the 2018 edition of the cup, Kaur was richly rewarded for her form to rich a career high best ranking.

Among other Indians to move up in the batting charts after India’s top four showing at the tournament were, Jemimah Rodrigues who moved nine places to sixth and left-handed opener Smriti Mandhana climbed seven places to 10th. With 694 rating points, Suzie Bates of New Zealand and Stefanie Taylor of West Indies (656 points), occupy the first and second spots respectively ahead of Kaur.

Poonam Yadav and Anuja Patil are the only two Indians to make the top 20 among the bowlers. Poonam, who was crucial to India’s good run and one of the best wrist-spinner in the tournament, is second in the list with 662 rating points while Anuja has dropped six places to 20th.

The updated T20 rankings see Australia maintain their top spot after a fourth T20 triumph. Fellow finalists England were second in the list with 6,567 points and 274 rating. Semi-finalists India occupied the fifth spot with 7,993 points and a rating of 256. Meanwhile, with 0 wins in the tournament, Ireland continued to sit rock bottom of the top 10 charts. The T20 rankings have been recently introduced after the ICC granted full status to all the 104 T20 playing nations.
