ICC Women World T20 Group Standings

Moving on with ICC Women World T20 group standings, the tournament has been divided into two groups with each group featuring five sides each. In Group A, there are Sri Lanka Women, South Africa Women, Bangladesh Women, West Indies Women and England Women while In Group B, India is placed along with Ireland Women, Australia Women, New Zealand Women and Pakistan Women.

Two teams from each group will reach the semi-final stages with the winners playing in the final of ICC Women’s World T20 which will take place on Saturday, November 24, 2018.

Women’s World T20 2018 Points Table

Group A

Position Team Matches Won Lost Tied NR Pts NRR
1 England 2 1 0 0 1 3 2.79
2 Windies 1 1 0 0 0 2 3.00
3 South Africa 1 1 0 0 0 2 0.56
4 Sri Lanka 2 0 1 0 1 1 -0.56
5 Bangladesh 2 0 2 0 0 0 -2.73

A group that can see anyone go through at this stage sees England sit on the top with three points from two matches. A rain washed encounter between them and Sri Lanka at St.Lucia saw both the teams earn a point from the encounter that saw not even a ball being bowled with England playing in another rain-marred match against Bangladesh which they went onto win by 7 wickets via the DLS method.

Meanwhile, both the West Indies and South Africa sit on two points after both the sides won their opening encounters. In an outstanding showing with the ball, South Africa downed Sri Lanka to register their first win of the tournament while defending champions West Indies also got their campaign off to a flier with a comfortable victory against Bangladesh.

ICC Women World T20

For Asian sides Sri Lanka and Bangladesh the tournament looks to have come to a premature end with both the nations suffering defeats in their first two fixtures to sit at 0 points. Dismal performances from the sides hardly inspire the confidence of a comeback this edition of the world cup.

The group of death that sees some of the top sides in it should see the West Indies and South Africa progress to the knockout stages of the mega event.

Group B

Position Team Matches Won Lost Tied NR Pts NRR
1 Australia 2 2 0 0 0 4 3.73
2 India 2 2 0 0 0 4 1.16
3 Pakistan 3 1 2 0 0 2 -1.59
4 New Zealand 1 0 1 0 0 0 -1.7
5 Ireland 2 0 2 0 0 0 -5.6

India and Australia have dominated Group B with the giants both maintaining their 100% record in the women’s T20 world cupIndia who have four points after having defeated New Zealand and Pakistan courtesy of stellar all-around performances, sit just behind Australia on a net run rate. Australia with wins against Ireland and Pakistan has a net run rate of +3.73 as opposed to India’s +1.16. With two defeats, Ireland’s campaign looks to have come to an end.

The group has already begun taking shape and should see India and one of either Australia or New Zealand advance to the semi-finals with ease. Australia Vs New Zealand and India Vs Australia will be crucial in deciding the top 2 of the group. The Group B matches will be played on Thursday, 15 November.
